An Agenda for Change

Joel Edwards, until very recently, General Director of EA has written a really useful, short overview of the challenges facing evangelical churches today. Calling for a commitment to the gospel, lived out in the way of Jesus, he outlines ways that we need to present this gospel. Shouting louder is never effective! The second section looks at the range of evangelicalism currently and the need to recognise in each other the work of Christ. The third section outlines the interplay between the proclamation of the gospel and social change. It concludes with discussion questions.

I am employed by church for a day a week, and my role is to keep an eye on the overall strategy of the church, have a major part to play in the teaching and preaching, and to tell good stories about what God has done with us to others. My other day job is with the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity. I work as a church consultant with a small group of churches (around 15 of them) scattered across the country, from the full range of denominations, thinking through with them how we can best develop churches that are able to nurture really positive, whole-life disciples of Jesus. I love it!
