Do something new – Generosity

During Lent we’re looking at how we do the core disciplines that are fundamental to our faith, for the sake of others, as set out in Matthew 6 – part of the Sermon on the Mount.

This chapter is a picture of the Christian living his life in the world, in the presence of God, in active submission to God, and in entire dependence upon Him. And the basic principle of the chapter is ‘Don’t do these things to be seen by others, and in order to impress them’, which can be applied to every area of our lives.

In this sermon I specifically looked at generosity and giving to the needy, and how this chapter’s guiding principle can be used in this spiritual discipline, using myself as an example to explore how this can be applied practically in our lives.
